Tip of the Day - keep your batteries warm!

This is especially true if you have batteries that have been run through a number of charge/discharge cycles as they don't hold their charge very long...

Make sure if you're traveling anywhere cold this winter that you take your batteries out of your camera and put them next to your body in between photographs as they will definitely not last long if they are freezing cold. When I was hiking in Kyrgyzstan a few years ago I kept all my batteries in my sleeping bag while I was sleeping and only used them after I had warmed them up first. After a week long trip, I had only partially drained one of my batteries after having shot hundreds of images because I had been so careful in preserving their charge.

There are few things worse than lugging 20+ pounds of digital camera gear up a mountain only to have your batteries wear out!
